Shop hands-free: porters and baggage storage explained

What to do with the bags — a porter who walks with you, or a secure desk that holds them while you carry on.

The best part of a mall day usually ends with the worst part: too many bags and a long walk back. Wheelerz offers two ways out of it.

A Wheelerz story

The sale that almost ended early

It was the first day of the end-of-season sale, and by noon Farah was carrying six bags up the escalator with half her list still to go.

She booked Handsfree Shopping from her phone at the food court. A porter met her there, took every bag, and followed her through the next three floors.

Later, before a film, she left the lot at the Wheelerz desk with Baggage Storage, got a token, and collected everything on her way out. The sale did not beat her.

An illustration of how the service works — the people in it are fictional.

Handsfree Shopping

A porter meets you and holds your shopping bags while you keep going — to the next shop, the food court, a film. Tell us roughly how many bags when you book. It is charged by the hour, like our other assisted services.

Baggage Storage

Prefer to walk light? Bring your bags to the Wheelerz desk. The team counts them in and gives you a token; storage runs from that moment until you come back. It is charged per bag, and you show your token to collect.

Which one to choose

  • Still shopping and want the bags with you? Handsfree Shopping.
  • Done with the bags for now and heading somewhere else in the mall? Baggage Storage.
  • Carrying bags and a baby? Pair a pram with Handsfree Shopping.

Good to know: Heading home from the mall? Private Taxi Booking arranges a cab from the mall to your address — the booking amount is paid up front and the fare is settled at the desk.
